Why I write
Because it is a privilege
I never set out to be a writer
Writing became a necessity, so I was trying to build a business back when the internet was brand spanking new.
1. I wrote what I learned
All I did was write about what I learned that day. Five days a week for a stretch of 6.5 years. I built a website back in the days when you could do search engine optimization that actually worked.
2. Then McGraw-Hill came a-knockin’
I had written a 99-page e-book about business planning and how to write a business plan. That's what caught their eye. They asked me to write a book on how to buy a business, which I did.
Then I pitched them about letting me write a second book about business planning. That book was translated into Spanish, and oddly enough, it did better in Spanish than it did in English because when McGraw-Hill Trade merged with McGraw-Hill Education, my book was suddenly in the education catalog and got adopted by some MBA programs that were teaching in Spanish.
3. I've got four new books in the works, I plan to share them here
I'm a complete newbie to Substack, so I'm going through the learning curve. But I'm hoping that my books can live here and be accessible to paid subscribers.
I admit it's an experiment, but if you choose to become a paid subscriber, You'll get access to my books here.
4. I'll release this book on March 15, 2025.
